Expressions of Interest

Interested in joining one of WIRV’s Sub-Committees? Before you express your interest, take a moment to review the summaries below to get a better idea of what each Sub-Committee does.

Advocacy
WIRV’s Advocacy Sub-Committee provides a forum to advocate for and empower women in the restructuring and insolvency industry. It promotes the cause of women in insolvency and educates WIRV’s members and the wider community about gender parity and gender equity in the insolvency industry.

Some of the ways that Advocacy achieves its objectives are:

  1. hosting an annual International Women’s Day lunch;
  2. hosting a mid-year function focused on the International Women’s Day theme for that year;
  3. coordinating an annual mentoring program for practitioners in the insolvency sector; and
  4. providing information and educating WIRV’s members about issues regarding women in insolvency.

Communications

The Communications Sub-Committee is integral to the running of WIRV. Communications is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the website and its content, facilitating communications to the WIRV community, and for maintaining and updating WIRV’s social media accounts.

Networking

WIRV’s Networking Sub-Committee hosts a number of networking events throughout the year. This provides opportunities for members of the restructuring and insolvency industry to get together in an informal setting, across a wide variety of events.

WIRV’s most popular networking events in recent years have included the annual Trivia Night, a Night at the Australian Open, Polo in the City and the Manikato Stakes Night.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Sub-Committee’s key objective is to provide professional development opportunities for WIRV members. This is achieved through organising WIRV’s breakfast/lunch briefings throughout the year. These briefings range from soft skills sessions, to technical updates, to broader topics of interest to the insolvency and restructuring profession and WIRV members.

Professional Development’s responsibilities include: liaising with sponsor/host companies, putting forward and finalising topics for each session, securing speakers and managing the event. The sub-committee aims to host between 8 and 10 briefings each calendar year.
