On 8 August 2020, WIRV hosted its webinar on unfair preferences and payments by third parties. Attendees heard from Daniel Harrison, an eminent barrister at the Victorian Bar, about what powers liquidators have in respect of third party payments in light of the recent approach in In the matter of Evolvebuilt Pty Limited NSWSC 901. On 18 August 2020 we held our morning webinar on intellectual property issues for companies in external administration. Attendees heard from Len Hickey, Special Counsel at Cornwalls who discussed the various types of intellectual property rights, how these can be identified and protected, and what issues might arise in an external administration scenario.

On Wednesday 9 September 2020 WIRV hosted a webinar on independence in insolvency, with a focus on the current requirements, ARITA guidelines, and recent cases on insolvency practitioner independence.
